Kurgan VS John C. Wright - 1st Round KNOCKOUT
Kurgan obviously thinks highly of science fiction author and Catholic convert John C. Wright. He holds him up as an example of someone going from “totally wrong” (atheism) to “totally right (Catholicism), and I agree with him.
Kurgan even calls him “esteemed” on page 90 of his book.
Esteemed - Having an illustrious reputation. Respected.
Here’s where kurgan holds JCW up as a great example:
RTCC - Pages 41 - 42
1.1 - Be willing to admit you are totally wrong (My comments in Red)
This is a very important step. It is the hallmark of the honest man, and without it, one can never learn, improve, or become better. Realize that improvement is continuous building and re-building on the broken foundations called error…
Here are just three examples of people who realized they were utterly and completely wrong :
2) The Science Fiction Writer John C. Wright - A devout atheist, John did not believe in any kind of God at all, and just as a matter of intellectual honesty, decided the only thing he had left to do to finalize his life-long belief that there was no such thing as a God, was to formally ask, to a God he didn’t believe in, to either bar conclusively shown there was a God, or else, since he was speaking only to himself and the uncaring universe, he could then say he had truly explored every avenue of thought. So, because God has a sense of humor, two days later, John had a massive heart attack. And what followed is a quite wonderful and miraculous story that I will not spoil for you because John tells it himself here: https://archive.is.lcUZh (So, we see here, per kurgan, that he believes that John C. Wright (JCW), has gone from “totally wrong” to “totally right”. He lists him along with Adrian and Natalia of Nicomedia and St. Paul, who are his examples 1 and 3)
Kurgan links to this article here, entitled, “Philosophy, Evidence, and Faith: The Conversion of John C. Wright”
Here is a quote:
“On Easter 2008, the renowned sci-fi writer John C. Wright entered the Catholic Church after a lifetime of atheism. This is his conversion story:” (That’s right kurgan, JCW did enter the correct Church in 2008, the mainstream Church, the visible Church, the Church that the Holy Spirit is guiding, NOT one of your sedevacantist churches)
From his Livejournal blog, JCW begins with this:
After three years of prayer, thought, and debate, and an honest attempt to flow where the spirit leads me, I am joining the Roman Catholic Church this Easter” (Three years of thought and debate. Once again, NOT one of your sede churches)
Here is another JCW Livejournal post entitled, “A Private Opinion of Pope Francis”. Here is a quote:
“Perhaps the Pope in his private opinions leans more to the Left than the average American. I care not. The Church has, in history, blossomed under the Emperors of Rome and Byzantium, who were elected by the army; under sacred kingship, under parliaments, under republics, and even under the tyranny of the Turks. The Church has also opposed all these things because She opposes the world. The Church will be here long after America sinks under the weight of our own corruption, long after the collapse of the North American Federation which comes next, or the Co-Dominium World-State, or the Long Night, or the Instrumentality of Man or the whatever comes after that.” (We read here that JCW believes that Pope Francis is the Pope, and that the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, will continue on no matter what the Pope does or believes. He is CORRECT)

Here is a long article written by JCR entitled, “ On the Authority of the Church” it begins with this: (emphasis added)
“A reader asks:
What authority do you have to rely on to know that you should rely on the authority of the Catholic Church?
JCW - The short answer is that the authority of the Church rests in the Holy Spirit which animates the body of the Church in the same way a human spirit animates a man. The authority comes from Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity which is God; and the Church is at once His bride and His mystical body.
The long answer is a little more complex, so please indulge me:
The Church is either what she claims to be, or not. If she is what she claims, then her authority comes from the Holy Spirit, that is, from God, who is the source of all authority and truth. If she is not what she claims, she is either a human institution making a claim that is somewhere between self delusion and insanity, or she is a satanic institution run by the spirit of the Antichrist to deceive were it possible the very Elect.”

Here’s kurgan from page 36 of his book:
“I will prove beyond a doubt that the Catholic Church was inflitrated, and that those infiltrators took over the Papacy as imposters from 28th October 1958 on, and that the Catholic Church has not had a valid. Pope since then” (Per JCW, who explains it a lot better than I can, this is impossible. Either the Church is guided by the Holy Spirit, or it is not. It is impossible for the Church to from “Holy” to “satanic” as you think it does, literally overnight).
Here’s Kurgan from page 252 if his book (emphasis added):
“If really is easy enough to know if a Cleric is indeed a Catholic or not. Ask him if he rejects everyone and everything that does not reject Vatican II and its antipopes in totality.. If they do, then they may well be actual Clerics, if not, they are most certainly not.
And the same holds true for lay people. How can anyone profess to be Catholic, if they have not ever taken the time to understand the details of the Catholic Faith? If they have not even bothered to look into what Vatican II was or how it happened. If they have never bothered to read a single document of Vatican II and compare it to the dogmas of the Catholic Church. If they have never read any catechism of the Church from before 1958, and so on, and on, and on.
How, I ask, can such people—and you to dear reader, if you are one of them—consider themselves to be Catholic? By what means to they deem they are? Because they are told that a Novus Orco priest “baptized them”
Well, yes kurgan, it is the sacrament of baptism that brings you into the Catholic Church. So you’re totally wrong there, but that will be for another blog post. Here are the facts:
1 - You praise JCW for going from totally wrong (atheist) to totally right (catholic)
2 - You have esteem for JCW
3 - JCW became Catholic by being baptized in 2008, in a mainstream church by a Novus Ordo Mass saying priest. This is obvious because:
4 - JCW believes Pope Francis is the Pope
5 - JCW believes that the church cannot go from good to evil. Either it has always been guided by the Holy Spirit, or it hasn’t.
So, I agree with the Esteemed John C. Wright, who has gone from totally wrong (atheist) to totally right (Catholic) according to YOUR OWN BOOK
So, is JCW a “true Catholic” or not? Does he have to now realize that he is once again totally wrong, and agree with your views to be “totally right” a second time, for real? What a joke.
The truth is that people who openly disagree with kurgan (like myself), you slander, calumniate, detract, and attack, and the people who the kurgan likes, (or does not want to confront), he ignores their “lying deceiving satanic” ways.
So, is JCW catholic, or not?
I’ll be waiting for you to refer to JCW as a liar, decieving tool of satan. I won’t hold my breath though…
